The Philadelphia church was not powerful in the perspective of the culture, but they had held fast to Jesus and were encouraged to continue doing so. But as we dive deeper into the text, we see that it was Jesus Himself who held the keys, opened the door, and promised to keep the church through intense tribulation and suffering.
